Barnes & Noble and the Apple iPad – An unlikely pair
Filed under News
It looks as though Barnes & Noble are climbing on the Apple iPad bandwagon as the giant book retailer has just announced that it plans to make its B&N ereader app available for the Apple iPad “around the time” of the device’s launch in April.
Although the details of this app are a little sketchy at the moment, what we do know is that the app will be free, and is apparently “designed specifically” for the iPad, giving you access to all of the books, magazines and newspapers available in Barnes & Noble’s eBookstore.
Although the iPad is effectively a direct attack on the Nook (and all other ebook readers on the market), Barnes & Noble maintain that the Nook and the iPad are targeted at different audiences, thus making the app a viable move.
If anything, it seems as though the B&N app is an admission of the predicted success of the iPad.
